iBEAT

iBEAT is the Infant Brain Extraction & Analysis Toolbox created by the IDEAgroup at UNC.

I began using iBEAT version 1 when I was a postdoc. At the time, I found very little documentation online about it, aside from the instructions the IDEAgroup provides. As I worked through processing my data with iBEAT, I will tried to share detailed instructions about what worked and didn’t work for me, as well as any problems I noticed along the way in an effort to help other researchers use iBEAT for their own infant MRI data.

Since then, iBEAT released iBEAT Cloud, which allows users to upload data to the iBEAT team, who would then process the data and return it to the user via a shared link. This works great, and I highly recommend it to anyone with infant and toddler data!

Even more recently, the iBEAT team released iBEAT Docker, which allows users to process their own data on a GPU computer. With some trial and error, I was able to get iBEAT Docker set up on a Texas Advanced Cluster Computing with GPU capabilities, and I have successfully processed our data using iBEAT Docker.

I am not a part of the iBEAT Team. I am an assistant professor at UTHealth in Houston, Texas. All credit and citations for this software should go to the iBEAT Team.
